Positive changes, Self development

Changes bring challenges. Feeling through transformation.

There are times in life when we can go through phases where we just don’t feel our best. Maybe we have been through challenges such as a loss or a major change that has knocked the wind out of our sails. Perhaps we have had to change our routines, or we have received news that we must become accustomed to, which has led us to transformation. Either way, this might’ve thrown us off course.

Sometimes it can take work to come back to ourselves and to get to know ourselves again. Changes in our lives can be so major they can bring us to question who we are now. We can go through such a dramatic identity change, this can take time to process. If we are going through a grief also, this is something that can be time-based.

Certain changes can take many years to achieve and become accustomed to. It might help us to revisit our values and check if we are meeting our basic needs. We can also seek guidance or therapy to help ourselves make sense of our new direction. Perhaps there is something that we have always thought of doing but have never done, or wished we could do. For example, is there a new skill that we can master?

While it’s important for us to live in the moment, it’s also Important for us to develop a forwards-thinking mindset. This can help us be, but also be lining up where we want to go. It’s important to recognise that it’s okay if we need to recoup, lick our wounds; that’s all part of it.

We can step back and look at the foundation of our lives and start there. Are we eating healthy and nutritious meals at the right times? Can we making enough time to practise self-care? Have we given ourselves enough time to relax? To engage in positive self nurture? It could be helpful to take some time to reflect, or journal, the aspects of ourselves to be proud of. What kind things have people commented towards us? What things have we achieved, no matter how small?

All of these activities will support us in rediscovering ourselves and thinking of what we need. From this we can consider what our next steps might be and how we can feel better overall.
